Lightsabers, Rain-Soaked Dresses, and So Much Laughter: Brianne & Andras' Wedding
There's a moment on almost every wedding day when the plan falls away, and you're just left with two people, exactly as they are. For Brianne and Andras, that moment came more than once, and I got to be there for every single one of them.
Their wedding on June 6, 2026, was full of the kind of details you can't script. And that's exactly why I loved being part of it.
I always tell my couples the same thing before their wedding day: I'm not there to direct you; I'm there to witness you. To catch the version of your day that's actually yours, not a version borrowed from Pinterest. With Brianne and Andras, that promise got put to the test in the best possible way, and they didn't hold back.
THE LIGHTSABER.
During the ring exchange, right in the middle of the vows everyone expects to look a certain way, Brianne reached over and handed Andras a lightsaber. A real one.
I was close enough to catch his face the second it happened, and honestly, that's my favourite part of this job. Not the wide shot, not the "pretty" moment, but the split second of pure, unfiltered reaction that you can't fake and can't recreate. Shock, then laughter, then that unmistakable look of this is so us. It lasted maybe two seconds. I'll never forget it.
Later, what started calm turned into steady rain, right as Brianne and Andras stepped out for portraits.
I've watched couples panic over far less. Brianne and Andras didn't. They stayed out in it, laughing, holding onto each other, letting their hair and their outfits get soaked through without a second thought. There's something about a couple who can look at a ruined forecast and just keep going that tells you everything about how they'll handle the rest of their marriage, too.
By the time we got back inside, Brianne's dress had taken the full weight of the storm. Layers of soaked fabric, water trailing behind her with every step across the floor. We ended up crouched in the bathroom together, wringing her dress out over the toilet while she laughed about looking like a snail dragging its shell behind her.
It wasn't glamorous. It wasn't in the timeline. It's also the moment I think about most when I think about their day.
This is the part of my job people don't always expect. It's not just showing up with my iPhone. It's kneeling on a bathroom floor with your bride, laughing with her, because that's where the real story is happening. It's caring enough about my couples to stay present for the mess, not just the highlight reel.
Brianne and Andras, thank you for trusting me with your day exactly as it happened, lightsaber and all, rain and all. Getting to witness two people who love each other that much, and laugh that easily through anything, is my why.
If you're planning your wedding and want someone who shows up fully for your day, the planned parts and the unplanned ones, I'd love to be part of it.
